BREAST
IMPLANTS OR ASPARTAME (NUTRASWEET®) DISEASE?
THE SUPPRESSED OPINION ABOUT A
PERCEIVED
MEDICOLEGAL TRAVESTY
Massive litigation
involving the safety of silicone has resulted in enormous
punitive damages and the bankruptcy of a major corporation.
Yet, this issue remains a medicolegal
quagmire . An independent court-appointed scientific panel
and the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of
Sciences could NOT find convincing proof implicating such
implants as the cause of systemic (not local) complaints by
these women.
H. J. Roberts, M.D. provides a plausible
"missing link" He emphasizes the striking overlap
of systemic complaints among breast implant patients and
persons with documented reactions to products containing
aspartame in his data base of over 1,200 aspartame
reactors...mostly women. These products are being consumed
in prodigious amounts by 70 percent of the population,
especially weight - and figure - conscious women.
This courageous expose by a
corporate-neutral physician/citizen could not find a forum
in conventional medical journals. It represents a partial
answer to the question of Dr. Marcia Angell (Editor, New
England Journal of Medicine): "Why has the
hypothesis that breast implants cause these diseases been so
readily accepted with so little evidence to support
it?" |
